This bottle is larger than most in our apothecary, and for good reason. You’ll reach for it often, and your whole family will want to use it. Store in a cool, dry cupboard, it will last for YEARS. I still had a bottle from 2018 that I opened this fall and it worked perfectly. That’s what inspired me to bring it to the apothecary.

Fever isn’t an illness, it’s your body’s way of restoring balance. The herbs in this remedy don’t suppress that natural process, they support it. This formula is meant to keep fevers within a manageable range while easing discomfort, without interfering with the body’s healing response. If a fever becomes too high or lingers, please seek medical attention. Bacteria can be treated with antibiotics, but viruses need time to run their course. This blend offers support while your body does the work it’s designed to do.

Suggested use: 1 dropper ( 30 drops or 1 ml), every 3-4 hours as needed – same as you would use Tylenol.  For short term use only. Be sure to also hydrate well. Nourishing teas, electrolytes and plenty of liquids.

Use when a fever is present- safe for children 1 year+. Although this is a glycerite, it still contains alcohol and younger children might find it slightly bitter, you may add honey to make it easier to go down for kids. It’s helpful to also soothe an upset tummy if due to a stomach virus.

Ingredients: Yarrow, Lemon Balm, Elderflower, Catnip, organic grain alcohol

In addition to Catnips nervine and bitter actions, catnip helps promote sweating, brings down fevers, and is commonly used with herbs like boneset and yarrow to treat flu symptoms. I haven’t added Boneset to this formulation however if it is something you would like added it may be customized upon request.

This herbal blend is classified as a Febrifuge _ Definitions of febrifuge.  Any medicine that lowers body temperature to prevent or alleviate fever.

While OTC (over the counter) meds can help reduce a fever, they do not support our systems, they don’t get to the underlying cause nor do they shorten the duration of whatever bug we have encountered. They also carry risks that these herbal remedies do not. Did you know that Tylenol can increase your risk of developing asthma? It also carries a risk of liver toxicity, much more common than many realize.

NSAIDS like Advil can lead to gastritis, stomach ulcers/bleeding, and may delay healing by causing secondary infections. It’s part of why when we start with one thing we end up progressing to another. That is delaying healing, not helping speed it up.

For children under 1 year of age I recommend violet syrup – Sweet Violet is great for a dry cough and to calm, for teething pain, tummy upset, mild fever, sore throat, sniffles, and is a decent expectorant (especially for children with asthma).
