You had questions, and we got the answers!

Our most commonly asked questions can be found here.

Do your products need to be refrigerated?

It depends on the product:

  • Our vinegar based tonics are recommended to be stored once opened in a cool dark place, preferably the fridge. Shelf life is usually 2 years.
  • Oxymels are a honey/vinegar base so you want to store those in a cupboard but not the fridge. The honey may crystallize and that is ok, just run your bottle under some warm water and shake it back up. If it becomes too cold it may solidify so you cannot use the dropper. Shelf life is usually 2 years
  • Tinctures are alcohol based and do well in a cool dark place bur don’t need anything other than your cupboard. Shelf life is usually 5+ years
Does the sediment mean mold?

No, let us explain!

  • Sometimes you can get a little build up of sediment, this just means shake it well. Apple cider vinegar is usually around 5% – 6% acetic acid which is too acidic for mold to grow. Occasionally if kept too long in a warm or sunny environment you may find mold on the bottle or the surface , it isn’t dangerous and can be wiped/skimmed off.
  • A vinegar mother (SCOBY) can occasionally form. This is bacteria that feeds off alcoholic liquids and sometimes vinegars, it means there were some naturally occurring sugars that didn’t ferment. Similar to kombucha.
My tonic is murky, is it still good?

Sure is! Most of the herbal remedies are murky, especially those made with ACV (which is cloudy on it’s own even before our process begins).
